Joanna Briar

Artist and Printmaker

Glastonbury, Somerset, UK

Joanna Briar - Biography

I am a printmaker working principally with wood and lino inspired by the beautiful countryside surrounding my home in Glastonbury. I create small editions of my prints on Somerset paper or linen and hand printed cards. I also make paper lanterns - some of which are illuminated - featuring printmaking and ink drawings of the Somerset landscape and trees.

In 2021, I had two major exhibitions, “A Sense of Place” at Somerset Rural Life Museum and “The Shape of Trees” at ACE Arts in Somerton - both featuring printmaking, ink drawings and paper sculptures.

I am a member of Somerset Art Works and the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen. My latest commission was to create twelve linocut illustrations and a front cover design for “The Wind in the Willows” CD written and recorded by folk duo GreenMatthews.
